Hell House

Hell House

Here it is another week and another episode of Junkiosity – the Pod! Matty & Dan the Man are once again sharing with you their knowledge about absolutely nothing! Here are some helpful links from today’s conversation:

Dan is the creator of Stick Man Tim Comics, which can be found on Facebook. Be sure to “like” the page to get new comics 3 times a week as well as info on upcoming projects!

Matty is still trying to get Dan to subscribe to Spotify, a great service that gives you access to thousands of music tracks from just about every artist known to man! It’s free to set up an account, click this link to give Matty someĀ referral love! And if you follow @Junkiosity on Twitter, Matty posted his “Halloweeny” playlist filled with all sorts of ghoulishly good tunes! We’re looking for more tracks to add to it so let us know what you listen to during the Halloween season!

Comics, comics, comics. Dan’s got Matty beat with his collection of long boxes filled to the brim with comics. Dan’s most valuable comic? Faust #1. Matty’s? Possibly Daredevil #12 or possibly TMNT #4. Both of them are now occasional collectors and had wished they had gotten “The Walking Dead” #1 when it first came out.

“The Walking Dead” season premiere was incredible! Matty & Dan both agreed that the episode was good despite the critics. What most fail to realize is that the show is a drama set within a zombie-filled environment and that the “walkers” are now a part of the background instead of the forefront. Having a staccato of zombie fights without any real character development would stale quickly. And having the show veer from the storyline of the comics help to continue to keep the readers of the original comic interested.

Matty & his wife make the documentary, “Hell House” an annual tradition. Filmed in 2001, the documentary follows Trinity Church of Cedar Hills, Texas as they prepare to put on a “Hell House”, a Christian version of a haunted house depicting scenes of real-life horrors from drunk driving to domestic violence with a message that if you need to know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord & Savior. BE WARNED – Trinity Church is a Pentacostal church that believes in such practices as speaking in tongues, anointing with oil, & laying on of hands. There is a lot of graphic themes as well, so watch the documentary at your own risk.

Dan brought up a good point regarding one scene where a group of teens ended up in an argument with some church members about the one of the themes within the Hell House attraction. The teens failed to understand the point of the attraction and of that particular theme. They had gone in with a “chip” on their shoulders and refused to calmly hear what was being said. Which is often the way society is, we react without listening to other’s opinions nor taking the time to understand.

Tune in next week for another GREAT show!
