Bike Rant

Bike Rant

This week the guys (and gal) had fun talking about all sorts of things this week, from hiring teens for summer work to Dan’s promised rant!

They all agreed that hiring teens for summer jobs was the worst. Promises of working shifts and overtime were waylaid with family trips & sudden illnesses (beach fever!). Matty contends that for the movie theater, the Thanksgiving holiday weekend was the worst time to work. For Dan, pizza places find the school year to be the worst…

The gang discussed that they gauge which movies they will see in theaters versus waiting to rent or see on HBO. A Million Ways to Die in the West is a definite renter according to Dan.

The Purge: Anarchy might be another renter versus seeing it in the theater. Dan refuses to see As Above, So Below since he hates caves or being underground….

Matty recommends getting Amazon Prime, they have now added streaming music (akin to Pandora or Spotify) as well as many HBO series.

Don’t forget to take our poll! Until next week Junkies!

Stay Cool

Stay Cool

Hey there Junkies!

This week was mainly about “being cool”, our definition of what is “cool”, and of course other stuff!

One of the things that define “cool” for Matty is sunglasses and not just any sunglasses. Matty has had a fascination with Ray-Ban’s Clubmaster style sunglasses when he didn’t even know their name. Ever since seeing Bruce Willis as the character David Addison on “Moonlighting” wear them, he had to have a pair. On a family vacation Matty located a knock-off at a flea market and wore the crap out of them until they got scratched & broken. Recently, after saving up for them, Matty acquired an official pair of prescription Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses.

Dan is achingly awaiting the final episode of “Fargo” on the SyFy channel. Not since the ending of “Breaking Bad” has he jonesed so bad to see what happens…

Jenn is currently into listening to podcasts while she toils away the hours. “The Adam Corolla Show” is her current podcast obsession and thinks you all should check it out!

A podcast recommendation from Matty is “Food is the New Rock” with Zach Brooks & Chuck P. Zack is a food blogger in NYC & Chuck is a radio host on KCRW. Each week they spend time interviewing music artists about food and chefs about music. They have interviewed many interesting guests from Duff Goldman to Henry Rollins. Matty highly recommends the Henry Rollins interview, he had quite a few stories about eating while on tour both in the states and around the world.

The gang was fond of the movie, “The Breakfast Club” growing up and found a quiz to see what character they most associate with. All three are John Bender according to the quiz, let us know what character you associate with on the quiz!

We talked about KISS making it into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (finally) and went off on remakes, re-imaginings, & the plethora of special “cuts” of films. Matty has “Jodorowky’s Dune” on his Netflix queue, a documentary about efforts to make Frank Herbert’s “Dune” book into a movie in the 1970’s which is way-before David Lynch’s version in 1982. Salvador Dali was to be a part of the cast. SALVADOR DALI!

Chrome, Whitesnake, & Funerals

Chrome, Whitesnake, & Funerals

Hey Junkies!

This week was varied as far as our topics, we discussed a little of the California Chrome debacle and agreeing that changing the rules makes the possibility of a Triple Crown greater and also diminishes the specialness of the title. We also talked a bit about Tawny Kitaen and her beating up MLB relief pitcher Chuck Finley with her shoe.

Matty confessed to noticing a woman’s underwear outline through her dress while out walking, the whole gang discussed the subject of appropriate undergarments and inappropriate fashion.

Matty talked a bit about the book he is reading by Russell Simmons, Dan finished up the Divergent series, & Jen spoke about a book about Michigan she recently picked up.

A few movies on the horizon that are on Matty’s list to see are: “Divergent“, “The Giver“, & “The Maze Runner“, which are all based on sci-fi novels.

In our segment, “Whoring it Out” – Dan’s pick of the week is the HBO series, “The Sopranos” and for those that have either Amazon Prime or HBO On-Demand can watch the entire series run for free. Recently, “Game of Thrones” has overtaken the title of most-watched HBO series ever…

Jen is getting into “Halt & Catch Fire” which takes place in the late 1970’s and revolves around the coming computer revolution. She compared it slightly to an updated “Mad Men” (a series she LOVES) so she may get attached to it as well…

Matty is partial to 2 series right now that are only available on Netflix – “Derek“, Ricky Gervais’ series about a mentally-handicapped volunteer in an old folks home & “Orange is the New Black“, based on the novel by Piper Kerwin & developed by Jenji Kohan. Both are in their 2nd seasons, Matty is once again pissed off about the way the season ended for “Derek”…

Lastly, Matty wants to share THIS ARTICLE about the 5 horrifying truths about funeral homes… Beware, it does get graphic…

A Summer Day

A Summer Day

Hey Junkies!

We finally have our GoFundMe donation page set up so we can upgrade the podcast! Click HERE to donate towards our cause and remember, Matty promised a “topless” pic if we raise over $5,000 so help us reach that goal and see some man-boobies!

This week we were a little short on time due to some circumstances beyond our control (having correct cellphone numbers is a great asset in order to coordinate with your partners!). But never fear! MattyV & Jen spent a little time jaw-jacking about all sorts of topics until Dan the Man showed up.

We tried and “interesting” item for this week’s segment of “Does This Taste Funny?”, both Dan & Jen would pass but Matty thinks if it were the only thing around – maybe…

We have an action-packed episode for next week, so tune in! Also be sure to “like” us on Facebook, we will have additional content for you to peruse!

Until next week, Junkies!

Summatime!

Hey Junkies!

We finally have our GoFundMe donation page set up so we can upgrade the podcast! Click HERE to donate towards our cause and remember, Matty promised a “topless” pic if we raise over $5,000 so help us reach that goal and see some man-boobies!

This week we talked Summatime and all the things that remind us of it! Even though Jenn said that she didn’t ever visit an ice cream truck, Breyer’s Gelato Indugences is her current favorite ice cream treat! Dan is a fan of Ben & Jerry’s Mint Chocolate Chunk ice cream, while Matty prefers Edy’s Limited Edition Girl Scout Samoas Cookie ice cream.

The gang took time to come up with a “Summa Jams Playlist” of songs that remind them of summer or turn their radios up when they come on. Check it out! Don’t have Spotify? Get a free account via Matty’s shameless referral button at the top of our blog! Want to add to the playlist? Just put your suggestion in the comments below or on our Facebook page!

Dan is digging on “The Sopranos” right now, Matty talked about this YouTube video showing the meaning of the last episode…

We talked about those of us who are more “mature” have a deeper connection to music than today’s generation (along with a lot of other deeper appreciations for books/movies/television shows”. We also have a disdain for the commercialization of venue names. Keep the old name, dammit! They were much cooler-sounding!

Donate much & donate often so we can bring you better pods!

Until next week, Junkies!
