The Sh*t I Watch
Dan the Man & Jenn the Intern are MIA again this week, MattyV had surgery a week ago and wasn’t feeling up to getting together. This was a good thing since Dan developed a case of bronchitis and was hacking his guts out. The gang will hopefully be back together for next week’s fun-filled pod!
MattyV was inspired to record this week’s pod around the sh*t he watches on YouTube. He has his own channel that you can check out with many old videos relating to his weight loss journey. He subscribes to several other channels and checks them out on a weekly basis, some good – some he wonders, “What the f*ck am I watching this for?”
Seesmod is the Kevin Smith/Smodcast Network channel where you can find videos from Comichead & on occasion Kevin himself. Matty recommends the “Why, Bry?” videos if you are into TESD…
Tested is a channel developed in conjunction with Jaime Hyneman & Adam Savage that is part geek/part tech. Adam’s One Day Builds are cool, as well as the make-up effects videos.
EpicMealTime is getting to be played out now that they have hit the big time. Check out their earlier videos with the lower production values, those can get downright hilarious…
Grav3yardgirl is a trainwreck. Matty shakes his head whenever he clicks on her channel to see what fresh hell she has unleashed on YouTube. It all started with THIS VIDEO to get him to become a part of the “swamp family”…
AdamtheWoo is a punk band frontman/urban explorer that checks out all sorts of abandoned places and filming locations across the country. Check out THIS ONE where he visits the filming location for “Sleepaway Camp II & III”

Sunday Cinema – “Saturday the 14th”
This week’s selection is more of a Halloween movie, but it’s still fun. Coming out around the time when “slasher horror” first started to take over the genre, “Saturday the 14th” was released as a spoof or parody of them. A few notable actors, most recognizable would be Jeffrey Tambor (of “Arrested Development” fame”). A family moves into a creepy old home, their son unearths a book explaining a curse that hangs over the date of Saturday the 14th and accidentally releases a bunch of monsters. The family bands together to defeat them and hilarity ensues.
For a rainy Sunday, enjoy this slapstick horror comedy with a big bowl of popcorn and your favorite blanket!
The movie did spawn a straight-to-video sequel in 1988, “Saturday the 14th Strikes Back“

Something out of the movies, a security boss tried to rig a $14 million lottery payday…
VHS tapes worth money? It’s possible. Movies like “Song of the South” can fetch some pretty good money since they were released only once on VHS and due to controversy will never be released on DVD…
This douche is trying to buy every copy of the movie, “Speed”, on VHS that was ever made. Good luck buddy, I tossed my copy in the trash years ago…
Drinking PBR but want to drink craft beers and cannot afford it? This company has developed a “tea bag” that can turn the taste of a regular beer into a higher end craft beer. One bag can flavor 4 beers, multiple flavors are on the way!
I’m not an alcohol snob and don’t understand the world of “tasting”, scientists have cracked open bottles of champagne that were corked back in the 1800’s to see what they tasted like. They were well-preserved at the bottom of the ocean in near-perfect conditions. The alcohol content was on the low side, sweeter than their modern counterparts, & had a “spicy, smoky, leathery” taste… Hmmm…
Busted for serving beer? Spotted Cow beer is only legal to be sold in Wisconsin, but this bar in Minnesota was busted for serving it to an uncover officer. The brewing company does not have a license to sell or distribute alcohol in Minnesota & Spotted Cow is apparently a limited-production beer as well…
Be careful what you post on social media and certainly make sure that you have all your facts straight when you do. A poor gentleman that was taking a selfie with a Darth Vader standee to send to his kids was raked over the coals by a woman that mistook his selfie-taking with a pedophiliac behavior. Apparently they will be meeting at the police station so she can apologize in person…
These people spent $20 on a Beanie Baby worth almost $100,000! Now before you rip apart your house looking for that Princess Di Beanie Baby, keep in mind that there was a limited run with the poem on the tag. See this guy’s sad story about how his “investment” in Beanies has bankrupted him and his family…
This book has been removed from a pre-school due to its “adult” subject matter. More and more humor books are taking on the look of “innocent” children’s books as a part of the joke. This book is available as a free e-book or you can purchase a cardboard book physical copy…
Do some research on your own, but I don’t think that Carl’s Jr.’s new 1000 calorie burger with 64 grams of fat is the highest calorie burger available at a chain restaurant…

Sunday Cinema – “Meet the Feebles”
Before the “Lord of the Rings” & “Hobbit” films, before even “King Kong”, Peter Jackson directed a down-and-dirty parody version of everyone’s beloved Muppets. “Meet the Feebles” is THE favorite family-oriented variety show on television, but what happens behind the scenes is much darker & more sinister. Sex, drugs, & divas, will they be able to pull things together before the night’s show taping?
This is certainly NOT KID-FRIENDLY, even though it is a puppet movie… Be forewarned!

This week the gang is on location yet again at a local eatery. Culver’s is a national chain that boasts of a world-famous “Butter Burger” as well as “Concrete Mixers” (frozen custard-based shakes).
Here’s the video from America’s Test Kitchen as they make a regional favorite, “the butter burger“.
In Allegan, MI there is a restaurant where you can purchase & grill your own meat – much like the one Dan the Man talked about. It’s been featured on The Travel Channel a few times…
The talk on the internet as of late is the recently released trailer for “National Lampoon’s Vacation“, the continuation of the franchise with Ed Helms as a grown-up Rusty Griswold taking his tribe cross-country to WallyWorld. Like father, like son…
Kevin Bacon bulking up? Most likely prosthetics for a new role…
“God Bless America” is one messed up movie. Definitely not for the faint-of-heart, stars Joel Murray (Bill’s brother) and was written/directed by the one and only Bobcat Goldthwait. If you have Netflix, it’s available for instant streaming…
Paul Reubens has announced a new Pee Wee Herman movie, not sure how the millenials will receive this classic pop culture icon…
Another one we’re not sure will be received well by millenials is the new Muppets television show. Gen X-ers will most likely be the target audience…
Matty’s been bingeing on AdamtheWoo, a Youtube user that posts videos of abandoned places, television show & movie locations. Pretty neat stuff for those that long to be urban explorers…
Mark Hamill apparently debated on whether or not to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars Episode VII”…
Entertech was THE squirt gun manufacturer back in the 1980s. Take a look at this commercial and notice that NONE of the guns had the now-required orange cap. Talk about realistic weapons…
Here is the episode of “Home Improvement” that Matty & Dan the Man reference about the destruction of a classic auto that caused a HUGE uproar among classic car enthusiasts…
Matty found a documentary on YouTube about drive-in movie theaters. There aren’t many left in the country, if you have one near you – pay them a visit this Summer and keep them alive!
A double-shot of “The Hoff”, here is the fall of the Berlin Wall performance as well as the freaky Norwegian music video Dan the Man referenced…

“Tusk” is streaming on Netflix & Amazon Instant Video. A wacky & f’ed up movie for sure… “Human Centipede: First Sequence” & “The Babadook” is available on Netflix Instant Streaming. (Dan the Man WILL NOT be watching any of these…)

Sunday Cinema – “The Day After”
My hope has always been that my kids never had to live through a situation similar to “The Cold War” and in 1990 I thought we would be okay with the fall of communism in Europe. But with recent developments in China & North Korea, it may not be a possibility.
In the early-to-mid 1980s, the threat of a nuclear attack was on everyone’s mind. Movies like “Red Dawn” & “Miracle Mile” filled us with fear. That fear was heightened in 1983 with a television movie that rocked the world:
“The Day After” showed over 100 million Americans that tuned in the effects of a full-on nuclear attack on the lives of those who survive. Taking place in and around Lawrence, Kansas (the theory goes that this part of the country would most likely escape the effects of a nuclear war being so close to the geographic center of North America), We follow the lives of a farmer & his family, a major hospital, a soldier, & a group of university students.
The scenes are often graphic & stomach-churning, enough so that the network had to set up a 1-800 number to calm people down as well as air a commentary after the movie to help people cope.
As far as I understand, this is the most-watched television movie in history.
It may seem a little cheesy & dated, but this I believe still stands as a testament on what could happen if nuclear war befalls our nation.
Someone was kind enough to share this movie on YouTube, so check it out!

The gang went out on the town again this week, podcasting from a local restaurant that has a lot of history & heritage. Surprisingly, the sound quality is much better than last week!
Many smaller towns have local festivals, our town hosts a festival of tulips commemorating the early dutch settlers to the area. It’s one of the largest flower festivals in the country, apparently…

Sunday Cinema – “The Worst of YCDTOTV”
Back when Nickelodeon was a fledgling children’s channel, much of their programming came from other sources (mostly Canada). One of their most popular imports was a teen parody show that initially followed the format of “Saturday Night Live” with skits intermixed with live music. Later, the show was shortened to a half hour and the live music was eliminated. One notable cast member went on to bigger & better things (Alanis Morrisette).
Today’s selection is a rip of the VHS tape that was available for sale back in 1987.
This brings back a lot of memories, coming home from school and flipping on YCDTOTV, laughing the afternoon away. Some kind soul has uploaded this classic to YouTube. The very first episode with the original format can be found on YouTube as well!
