Sunday Cinema – “Angels from Hell”
During the mid-to-late 1960’s, many “propaganda” films came out decrying the counter-culture that was sweeping the nation. Hippies, motorcycle gangs, & even minorities were free game. The most popular of the time were movies about motorcycle gangs. From 1967-1974 it seemed as though Hollywood cranked out several low-budget films a year to keep up with demand.
The “Angels from Hell” plot revolves around Mike, a biker who served his country in Vietnam. Upon returning, he uses his military training to organize an outlaw motorcycle force that has the local authorities afraid. When one of the members is killed, war is declared…
This movie has a bunch of unknowns in the cast, most relegated to starring as bit actors in television shows and movies. The only notable would be Jack Starrett who played Gabby Johnson in “Blazing Saddles” (who was the mumble-mouthed prospector).
Like so many films of this era, they found new life with the VHS boom and later the DVD boom. This kind soul found a VHS copy and digitally uploaded it for all to enjoy on YouTube.
Apparently the soundtrack is pretty rare as it includes cuts from The Peanut Butter Conspiracy & Lollipop Shoppe…

Sunday Cinema – “Trilogy of Terror”
Surprisingly an ABC “Movie of the Week” (remember those?), this is one of those anthology-type movies which contain several different stories. All of the stories were written by Richard Matheson (of “I Am Legend” & “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” fame) and star Karen Black (best known as Mother Firefly in “House of 1000 Corpses”). Each story revolves around a woman (all played by Karen Black) and has those “twist” endings that we all love.
“Julie” – A college student becomes obsessed with a professor that ends in dire consequences.
“Millicent & Therese” – One f’d up case of sibling rivalry.
“Amelia” – Whatever you do, don’t mess with a Zuni fetish doll.
A sequel came out over 20 years later, but didn’t have as much oomph as the original. Some kind soul has posted this gem for all to enjoy…
Sick-Out
Not quite what you expect when you hear the phrase, “sunken treasure“. A Paris canal has been drained for cleaning, and what treasures it does hold!
Forget the traditional “sit-in”, “walk-out”, or “lock-out” protests, Detroit area teachers staged a “sick-out” over pay and other issues with their school district. More than 60 schools have had to close due to teachers calling in sick, and there have been warnings of continued “sickness” to come unless the situation is rectified…
This we believe is the last music video from David Bowie before he passed last week. Eerie to say the least as well as sad…
Anytime there is a new entertainment technology, you know there are people out there trying to use it for deviant purposes. From the Atari 2600 to more recent gaming systems, people have tried to add XXX to them. Virtual Reality is no different, at the recent CES show a company has unveiled their products using Samsung’s VR technology – immersive VR porn…
Here’s a turn, Nevada casinos have been operating in the red for the past 6 years as far as their gambling operations. Their restaurants, hotels, & shows have been making up a bit for the deficit.
Sounds like a wannabe “reality series” on a YouTube budget, this guy is looking for roommates to share his $3 million pound house and is willing to charge as low as $1 pound a month in rent. He is particular in what he’s looking for, do you qualify?
Powerball fever. By the time this airs, hopefully someone will have won the most recent Powerball jackpot (the highest on record). Here is an article with some interesting facts about the lottery…
Did you know that the authorities can generate a “threat score” based on social media? Dispatchers for 911 services can quickly generate a score for a suspect’s potential violence the same way one gets a credit score from a bank…
Sadly we lost yet another beloved actor. Here is one of the funniest scenes from the turd of a movie, “Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves”, starring Mr. Rickman…

Sunday Cinema – “Slaughterhouse”
Surprisingly this week’s selection actually had a limited theatrical release back in 1987. But really, this film was destined to be among the “video store fodder” that people were clamoring for in the mid-to-late 1980’s.
Following the recipe set forth by films like “Friday the 13th” & “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, this film tells the tale of what happens when you piss off a bankrupt slaughterhouse owner and his huge, mentally-disabled son. Lester Bacon (ha-ha) owned a once-thriving pig slaughterhouse that has fallen onto hard times. Larger “factory farms” have made pork processing easier and cheaper to do which puts the smaller slaughterhouses out of business. Developers are interested in Lester’s property, but Lester isn’t one to give up without a fight. And neither is his 360lb, mentally-disabled son, Buddy Bacon.
Buddy takes to heart his father’s anguish over the situation and takes to killing the ones who want his father’s property as well as any teens that happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Much like “Leatherface”, Buddy can only grunt & squeal like a pig but unlike “Leatherface”, Buddy carries a huge-ass cleaver to take down his prey.
From what I read, there was a sequel planned for this movie but it never got past the script stage.
Apparently not longer available on VHS or DVD, someone posted their copy to YouTube for all to enjoy!
Powerball!
This week the guys talk about the recent Powerball jackpot and what they would do with the winnings. MattyV wanted to repost this article in case you do win it big in the lottery.
The lottery talk also dredged up some discussion about the increase in minimum wage to $15 and how that will affect everyone.
They also discussed a program where those accepting welfare benefits would have to either do some sort of community service or take education classes. Michigan actually tried to pass a bill to do just that, but it was shot down…

THE BOYS DISCUSS A LITTLE ABOUT THE NEW STAR WARS MOVIE, IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT – DON’T LISTEN!
Dan the Man is entranced by the Stephen King novel, “The Revival“, and so far recommends giving it a read…

Sunday Cinema – “New Year’s Evil”
Coming out around the time that other “holiday-themed” slasher flicks had become money machines at the box office, here we have one revolving around a time of year when people are looking to forget the old and look forward to the new.
Blaze is the leader of THE punk rock band in the country and has set up a concert celebration on New Year’s Eve. Trouble is, there is someone out there that wants to “punish” all the naughty girls including Blaze. Calling himself “Evil”, he vows to kill a “naughty girl” in every time zone when midnight falls and says that Blaze will be the last. Heightened security and hasty investigations can’t stop this killer. Who could the killer be? Will Blaze make it past midnight?
Pretty much panned at the box office with lower-than-mediocre reviews from critics, this movie found life on the shelves at your local video store. With basically a cast of b-movie actors (with the except of Roz Kelly, better-known as “Pinky Tuscadero” on the television series “Happy Days”), who could ask for anything more 80’s than T&A, bad acting, & over-the-top gore?
Someone had the guts to upload this to YouTube. Check it out…
High Profits
MattyV just finished the first season of CNN’s “reality” series, “High Profits“, which follows the lives of a pair of cannabis shop owners that went from selling medical marijuana to recreational marijuana in Breckenridge, CO. The first season is currently streaming on Netflix.
Forget the old “you’ve got chocolate in my peanut butter”, this guy got off on rape charges by claiming his erect penis “happened” to enter a teen’s va-jay-jay when he stumbled and fell on top of her…
Did you know that the “Super Mario Brothers” theme song actually has lyrics? A contest was held by a radio station in Japan to add lyrics to the popular tune. A winner’s lyrics were actually recorded and released on vinyl! Creepy lyrics…
Did your kid get Legos for Christmas? Then he/she could make their own McDonald’s Chicken McNugget vending machine!
First it was “Happy Birthday”, now there is a lawsuit alleging that the writers on “The Big Bang Theory” stole Sheldon’s “Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty” song from a children’s songbook produced in the 1930’s…

I’m all for saving money but this is ridiculous! Norwegian Air shares some of the ways passengers have tried to bypass luggage fees. Wearing jeans as a scarf? Really?
If you’re on the run from the law, take a page out of the “Sons of Anarchy” book – get yourself some burner cellphones. The “affluenza” teen and his mother were busted when she used her personal cellphone to order pizza while in Mexico…
Both Applebee’s & Olive Garden were selling tickets to their NYC New Year’s Eve parties for upwards of $400 a ticket! Included was a buffet, open bar, DJs, but they could not guarantee a view of the famous crystal ball drop… Oh, the spokesperson did promise that Olive Garden’s bottomless breadsticks would be available…

Sunday Cinema – “Night of the Comet”
A comet that last passed by Earth 65 million years ago will pass it again on December 14th, 1984. Scientists claim it will be nothing but a harmless light show, or will it?
With a cast of fairly well-know b-movie actors (most notably Kelli Maroney) and a mixture of horror/action/comedy/romance, this movie has it all.
Luckily, someone posted a nice widescreen copy of the film on YouTube for all to enjoy!
Happy New Year!
