The Experiment
This week the boys headed to GR to see “The Belko Experiment“, which is apparently on a limited-release engagement. Over all it was a good movie, we recommend waiting until the DVD/instant streaming release.
ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION
MattyV & Dan the Man start out the podcast with what could be construed as offensive to many. We want to reiterate that we do no condone nor think that date rape (or any other kind of rape) is funny by any stretch. We were simply commenting on the absurdity of the statements, “9 out of 10” or “4 out of 5”, when it comes to someone trying to qualify their own conclusions regarding whatever topic may follow and using the offensive topic as proof of such absurdity.
ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION – ATTENTION
“The Belko Experiment” has been touted as “Office Space” meets “Battle Royale“, which is a Japanese horror film that has been the inspiration of “The Hunger Games“. We agreed that the setting (a corporate office) could be likened to “Office Space”, but there were no real jokes that even come close to it. “Battle Royale” is a bit closer, employees are pitted against one another to survive.
If you like movies such as “Battle Royale”, “The Purge“, or “The Strangers“, you may like this movie.
The article is a little old, but here are some things that you should & shouldn’t purchase on your next trip to Costco…
At least they got his order right… Dumbass….
Why is it that people like this are made famous (or infamous) while the ones who should get the accolade end up on the back page or some ticker fodder on the news?
When your five-year-old draws a picture of his mother with tufts of hair coming out of her pants, it may be time to consider a little “landscaping”…

Sunday Cinema – “Mad”
The month of March is known for several things, from St. Patrick’s Day to March Madness. For Sunday Cinema, we decided to honor an old joke (“What’s the military’s favorite day? March 4th…”) and the madness aspect of the NCAA basketball tournaments. So the films will either have a war theme or have “mad” in their title!
A cop & a game warden who hate each other are forced to come together to exact revenge on the producer of a reality television show. Although the film takes place in South Africa, it’s still got a lot of slapstick comedy elements that aren’t lost on the audience.
Someone posted a decent copy of this film online…
A Little Landscaping
Out of all the ’80s sirens, MattyV picked Molly Ringwald over all the others. Strawberry blondes make him melt… Dan the Man chose Elizabeth Shue, the beach scene in “The Karate Kid” does it for him…
When a five-year-old draws a picture of his mother with tufts of hair coming out of her pants, it may be time to consider a little “landscaping” . Reminded MattyV of the scene in the first “Scary Movie“…
“The Matrix” is contemplating a reboot with a black actor (Michael B. Jordan from “Creed” is being considered) playing Neo. There are several fan theories about the movies and “The Matrix” itself…
“Trucks“apparently follows the short story by Stephen King a little more closely than “Maximum Overdrive“, which is odd since Stephen directed “Maximum”…
This is the Guns n’ Roses video that Dan the Man was referencing…
This I guess this still is an acceptable senior gift, a shot glass (seriously)…
“The marathon.” “The what?” “The marathon.” “What?”
Weird Al’s moderately-priced “rarities” album has previously unreleased tracks, including “Pac Man”…
$10,000 is apparently now the highest-price paid for a hamburger (for charity).

Sunday Cinema – “Jungle Rats”
The month of March is known for several things, from St. Patrick’s Day to March Madness. For Sunday Cinema, we decided to honor an old joke (“What’s the military’s favorite day? March 4th…”) and the madness aspect of the NCAA basketball tournaments. So the films will either have a war theme or have “mad” in their title!
Back in the day it seemed when a genre becomes popular on the big screen, studios try to quickly shoot & distribute “knock-offs” for the home video market. The same thing is done today, but distributed through movie streaming services. “Jungle Rats” came in at a time when Vietnam War-themed movies were big hits at the box office. Part “Missing in Action”, part “Rambo”, the military puts together a crack team of tunnel soldiers to rescue American captives from the Viet Cong. Filled with a bunch of b-movie actors, the best part of the film was actually the poster or box cover. Filled with images that looked an awful lot like “Rambo: First Blood part II”, companies had to sell the movie by box art.
Someone was kind enough to post this gem online.
The Holy Grail
The boys had quite a conversation today about “holy grails” when it comes to collectibles.
Highest price paid for a comic book? $3.2 million…
Highest price paid for a VHS Tape? $700, despite some dubious eBay auctions…
Highest price paid for a Video Game Cartridge? $99,000, for an NES Championship Game cartridge.
Highest price paid for a automobile? $16.4 million for a Ferrari…
Highest price paid for a record album? $2 million, and the record can never be reproduced.
Highest price paid for a bottle of wine? $265,000. Wow, that’s a lot of juice!
Highest price paid for a bottle of whisky? $928,000, those crazy Japanese!
Highest price paid for a movie prop? $4.1 million, and no, it’s not Sharon Stone’s bra…
Highest price paid for a teddy bear? $2.1 million, and it’s a Steiff…
Highest price paid for a Beanie Baby? $4500, although we’re sure someone is out there ashamed to admit how much they paid for one…

Sunday Cinema – “Mad World”
The month of March is known for several things, from St. Patrick’s Day to March Madness. For Sunday Cinema, we decided to honor an old joke (“What’s the military’s favorite day? March 4th…”) and the madness aspect of the NCAA basketball tournaments. So the films will either have a war theme or have “mad” in their title!
Will is tortured at home & at school. His only relief is hanging with his friends & getting toasted. Reaching the boiling point, he & his friends go balls out with partying, pranks, & general mayhem.
Someone posted it online for all to enjoy!
Logan
The movie is apparently “loosely” based on the Marvel alternative story line, “Old Man Logan“. We say “loosely” because the comic story line takes place almost 6 millennia in the future where the super villains have overthrown the superheroes.
We all know (at least the fans do) that Logan was a part of a secret military project to create “living weapons”. The Weapon X project created not only Wolverine, but also Leech, Deadpool, & Sabretooth as well. There was another character that emerged from the project, X-23. No spoilers since the movie trailer showed her, X-23 is in effect the 23rd attempt at creating another Wolverine.
Nerdist’s Kyle Hill did a “Because Science” episode explaining why X-23’s claws are deadlier than Wolverine’s.
Nerdist’s Jessica Chobot reveals why Wolverine never wore the iconic yellow & black costume from the comics in any of the movies.
One of MattyV’s favorite YouTube channels sold out with a movie tie-in for “Logan”…
Hugh Jackman has stated in interview after interview that this movie will be his last portraying Wolverine. We will see, Ryan Reynolds can be very persuasive…

Sunday Cinema – “War of the Planets”
The month of March is known for several things, from St. Patrick’s Day to March Madness. For Sunday Cinema, we decided to honor an old joke (“What’s the military’s favorite day? March 4th…”) and the madness aspect of the NCAA basketball tournaments. So the films will either have a war theme or have “mad” in their title!
A signal reaches Earth that leads a captain & his crew to a mysterious planet run by giant robot that uses humanoid psychic energy for fuel. And now it has its sights on Earth…
Someone posted this title online for people to check out!
