Sunday Cinema – “Lifesaver Cherie”

All this month we are looking at “very special episodes” from 1970’s & 1980’s television shows. The tagline was meant to inform the viewer that the particular episode was going to talk about a real-life problem in the context of the show. These are some of the more familiar episodes that us Gen-Xers remember.

This episode of “Punky Brewster” finds Henry having to buy a new fridge when his WWII-era fridge conks out. Buying a new fridge from none other than the actor who plays sleazeball salesman Herb Tarlek (Frank Bonner) on “WKRP in Cinncinnati”, he puts the old fridge in the back of the tenement building  without removing the door. One game of hide & seek almost ends tragically…

Someone posted this episode  online for us to remember…
