The Junkiosity Christmas Commentary
The Junkiosity Christmas Commentary
Today we added commentary to the episode, “Anatomy Park“, from the cult series “Rick & Morty“.
What do you do? Visit the links and listen along as we talk, joke, & talk about random stuff at the end of the podcast.
The show was born out of a series of web comics developed by Justin Roiland entitled “The Real Adventures of Doc & Mharti“. At some point there was a cease & desist ordered due to the name, so it was eventually changed to “Rick & Morty”.
Two favorite episodes are the commercial/TV show parody episodes “Rixty Minutes” & “Inter-dimensional Cable 2”. These are off-the-cuff ramblings, which are hilarious…
“Jerry’s Game”, a real-life app for iOS & Android was a game played by Jerry Smith in the episode, “Something Ricked This Way Comes“…
Just remember – “Because Boobs“… (NSFW)

Those Network Blues
Netflix and other streaming services are trying (and succeeding) to compete with network & cable television by producing their own shows. What they are finding out is that just like a network company, they aren’t immune to Hollywood’s ills…
Danny Masterson has been fired from the Netflix show, “The Ranch”, amid allegations of rape. Thing is, at least one of the allegations was investigated by police back in 2000 and closed without incident. He’ll be screwed if he signed a “morals clause”…
We know that Kevin Spacey has been fired from “House of Cards” and Netflix recently announced that the show will continue without his character. Writers are scrambling for a storyline to finish off the final season of the series.
Louis CK screwed himself (no pun intended) through sexual allegations from women claiming he masturbated in front of them. His 2nd Netflix special was scrapped, a film starring the comedian will not be released, & HBO removed him from their “Night of Too Many Stars” and have removed all of his projects/shows from their on-demand service.
Amazon isn’t immune, their show “Transparent” starring Jeffrey Tambor is up in the air as more information surfaces about his sexual encounters with cast members & even his assistant. Amazon isn’t being as “knee-jerk” as Netflix, it seems as though they want to see where things shake out before making a commitment such as firing the actor. The show apparently could survive without him, and one of the cast members said it may be better without him.
At a time when the country is rife with sexual assault allegations in Hollywood, the capitol is rocked as well with allegations against Al Franken, John Conyers, & Roy Moore. It came out that the government paid $100,000 in tax-payers’ dollars to settle sexual harrassment allegations regarding disgraced Congressman Eric Massa. OUR TAX DOLLARS PAID TO QUIET SEXUAL HARRASSMENT CLAIMS FROM GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES!
Back in the day when you bought a Saturn, they made it a big deal. Your photo would end up on the wall of Saturn owners. Then the company was bought by General Motors, and the uniqueness & “No Haggle Pricing” got lost until ultimately the brand was shut down…
Here’s the Samuel L. Jackson scene from “Pulp Fiction”, be careful it’s NSFW…
When isn’t it a good time for Jon LaJoie? (NSFW)
“What’s a ZJ?” “If you have to ask big man, you can’t afford it…”
Originally an “Oprah’s Book Club” selection (which means automatic best-seller), much of the memoir turned out to be fiction…
Is “Die Hard” a Christmas movie? If it isn’t a Christmas movie, then neither is “It’s a Wonderful Life“…

Sunday Cinema – “A Christmas Dream”
All this month we’re going to look at some obscure (?) holiday-themed television episodes. It seems like just about every television show has a holiday-themed episode, even horror shows & variety shows.
NBC aired this quirky little special back in 1984 starring Emmanuel Lewis (TV’s “Webster”) and Mr. T (“The A-Team” & “DC Cab”) about a street Santa that meets a little boy who has no Christmas spirit. Mr. T takes the boy all around New York City to show him all the wonderful things about Christmas in the hopes that he regains his love of the holiday.
Featuring stars of the day such as Willie Tyler, David Copperfield, & Maureen McGovern, this a-typical Christmas special has enough to keep you interested…
Some kind soul has posted this special direct from VHS for all to see…

Dammit, Dan!
The Consumer Safety Group has unveiled their “Worst Toys of 2017” list, some are pretty far-fetched in our opinion…
Fortune Magazine has an article on some of the hardest-to-find toys this holiday season, basically saying that you’re gonna get a*s-raped by scalpers if you need one of these toys by Christmas…
MattyV recommends starting these now so you have time to build up credit for next year’s holiday shopping season:
- Make use of your bank’s “rewards” program if they have one (if they don’t, go to a bank that does). Basically works like credit card rewards, only you can use your debit card. Purchases on average can generate 10-30 reward points each, leave them be and after 2 years you could have enough to buy some pretty sweet gift cards or other merchandise.
- Gas stations/convenience stores may have their own rewards program giving you points for purchasing gas or other in-store purchases. If you go once a week, you could get enough points in a year to buy a couple of $25 gift cards.
- MyPoints.com is a great website for online purchases through major retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, & eBay. Go through the MyPoints site to the website you want to purchase from and receive points for every dollar spent (usually 2-3 points per dollar). For as little as 3500 points you can get a $25 gift card.
- Bing is a great way to gather points, doing the daily searches you can earn enough for a gift card or Xbox live subscription in a matter of months.
The “Moleskin Pants” gift exchange is a real story…
Something Awful had not one, not two, but three different threads about the worst Christmas gifts…
Someone did a piss-poor job of recording the TV scene at Lorraine’s house from “Back to the Future”, but at least you can see Matty’s reference from the podcast…
On NBC, Matty found the Mainway Toys skit from SNL…
Ben Heck has built a career on YouTube by shrinking down consoles or making things better…
Poor Toby, bought a Princess Unicorn for his daughter but…

Sunday Cinema – “A Donny & Marie Christmas – 1976”
All this month we’re going to look at some obscure (?) holiday-themed television episodes. It seems like just about every television show has a holiday-themed episode, even horror shows & variety shows.
Back in the 1970s, a family of Mormons ruled the television & musical airwaves. What looked liked a cute couple with their feathered hair & white-as-snow teeth were actually brother & sister. Much like the beginnings of The Jackson 5, Donny & Marie began their singing career as a part of The Osmond Family, a group borne of a group of brothers who sang barbershop quartet numbers that eventually found fame with the two youngest members of the group. It was the mid-1970’s when “The Donny & Marie Show” hit the airwaves and was a hit, the mixture of comedy/variety/singing captivated audiences & a boon for the Mormon church.
This is the first of several Christmas-themed episodes from the show produced by Sid & Marty Krofft (juggernauts of 1970’s television, they also produced shows such as “Sigmund & the Sea Monsters”, “Far-Out Space Nuts”, & “H.R. Pufnstuff”). Featuring regulars such as Paul Lynde, the rest of the Osmond family, & filmed in Utah (Mormon world headquarters).
Someone posted this historical gem online for all of us to relive 1970’s Christmas television…

Back in the day a woman’s (or man’s) fear when taking nude photos/videos were if the photo-mat people made copies of the pics or the video was duped a million times and ended up on a basic cable channel somewhere(“Sixteen Candles” reference). Facebook wants to help fight “revenge porn” by having people upload their nude photos to their site…
Sia was recently blackmailed by someone who had nude photos of her, so what does she do? Posts the preview photo she was sent on her Twitter feed…
Larry David (“Seinfeld”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) caught grief for his remarks during his hosting of “Saturday Night Live” about the holocaust…
If you don’t belong to the Facebook group “The Dumb” (a Psychostick fan group), don’t join. It will suck all your time reading all the memes/videos/jokes and you’ll hurt from laughing so hard. Here’s the snake video, MattyV laughed his ass off. I found out about the “Bobs & Vagene” meme from those guys…
If you’re a “Dead Head” like MattyV, hopefully you’ve started downloading the MP3s from this year’s “30 Days of Dead” where they offer up rare live performances of songs from Grateful Dead each year…
So, lemme get this straight – you desert your post, get captured, 6 soldiers die trying to find/rescue you, the president released a ton of terrorists to get you back, you’re found guilty of desertion, busted down to private, dishonorably discharged, & now you might get $300K plus back pay (including combat/prisoner of war pay)? WTF…
Rabid fandom is a fickle thing. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. But crashing a natural history museum’s website trying to buy a hoodie worn on a Netflix series? Wow…
Our second pizza candidate is Pizza Ranch, we tried to go as similar as possible to our base pizza. Little Caesar’s is still on top according to our calculations.

Sunday Cinema – “Seasons of Belief”
All this month we’re going to look at some obscure (?) holiday-themed television episodes. It seems like just about every television show has a holiday-themed episode, even horror shows.
“Seasons of Belief” stars E.G. Marshall (Clark’s Father-in-Law from “Christmas Vacation”) & a young Jenna Von Oy (“Blossom”) in a story where a grandfather tells the tale of a Krampus-like character called “The Grither”…
Someone posted this holiday episode online for all to enjoy during the holidays…
