“The Brain That Wouldn’t Die” is one written & directed by Joseph Green(!) and was released back in 1962. Made on a budget of $62,000 (a lot of money for the time), the movie did fairly well at the box office.
Young Dr. Cortner has been experimenting on human transplantation without authorization and against the advice of his father, also a surgeon. When his girlfriend gets into a car accident, Dr. Cortner does surgery to keep her head alive until he can find a suitable “donor” body. Then it just gets creepy…
There are several different prints available from the original theatrical print to the TCM restored print. This is supposedly the rough Director’s Cut, which was too graphic for American Television broadcast.
