Sunday Cinema – The Green Hornet

Green Hornet

No, we’re not talking about the recent crappy remake with Set Rogen, we’re talking about the ORIGINAL 1939 movie starring Gordon Jones as “The Green Hornet” & Keye Luke as his trusty sidekick, Kato.

Gordon Jones was a pretty busy movie actor in the 1930’s and 40’s that transitioned well into the television era but died too young (age 52). Keye Luke might not sound like a familiar name but for us Gen Xers, we know him well. Ever hear of a little show called “Kung Fu”? He played Master Po, the mentor to Caine (David Carradine). Or how about the “Gremlins” series of movies? He played Mr. Wing (“Grandpa”), the owner of Gizmo the Mogwai.

The movie is apparently a collection of 13 serial episodes that played before feature films back in the day. You’d have to go to the movies each week to see what happened next (great draw to get butts in seats!).

Someone posted the film online for all of us to enjoy!
