Tap Dancing on a Landmine, pt 1
Tap Dancing on a Landmine, pt 1
We’re living in an era where persons are guilty until proven innocent (and even then still ostracized), persons making false claims are often not punished, & persons are afraid to share their own personal opinions because of reprisal (sometimes violently).
The print & network media outlets by and large have been caught up in a rush to give news coverage without checking sources & often using social media as their reference material.
Minorities are afraid. Men are afraid. Women are afraid. Teens are afraid. Christians are afraid. We have created a toxic culture of commentary such as “F*ck you, where’s mine?” and “F*ck you and your opinions if your’s don’t align with mine.”
We have become a society of “shoot first, ask questions later. If those questions are too hard to answer, deflect blame elsewhere…”
We had a lengthy discussion today about the political climate, “alleged hate crimes” that garnered media attention which were later found to be false. And not only that, for the most part the accusers got away without any penalty.
Sunday Cinema – “Comback, Jimmy Dean”

Since February has been traditionally known as the month of “love”, we thought we would share some obscure movies having to do with love…
“Come Back to the Five & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean” isn’t about the begging for the return of pork sausage products. Rather it revolves around the 20th anniversary of James Dean’s death and the small fan club in McCarthy, Texas. Instead of what intended to be a celebration of the life and tragic death of the movie star, it becomes a reflection of the last 20 years in each of the members’ lives.
Coming out in 1982, it had a few notable stars such as Cher (who had a few 1980’s movie roles), Karen Black (“Mama Firefly” from “House of a Thousand Corpses), & a youngish Kathy Bates before her breakout role in “Misery”.
Someone was kind enough to share this movie online for others to enjoy!

Sunday Cinema – “They All Laughed”

Since February has been traditionally known as the month of “love”, we thought we would share some obscure movies having to do with love…
A strange film from Peter Bogdanovich (director of such classics as “The Last Picture Show”, “Texasville”, & “Mask”) and one of Audrey Hepburn’s last movies (she had to provide her own wardrobe!).
A couple of private detectives take on cases of possible infidelity of a wealthy man’s wife and a jealous husband’s spouse. Trouble is, the detectives fall in love with their prospective cases. Starring other notables such as Ben Gazzara (“Roadhouse”), Colleen Camp (“Kathleen Kirkland” from “Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment”), & this was the last film of Dorothy Stratten (Playmate of the Year 1980, her tragic life/death was captured in the movie “Star 80”).
Someone was kind enough to put this odd selection online for others to “laugh” at…
