Sunday Cinema “I Was a Male War Bride”

For the month of March we will be looking at “military” themed movies since March contains the military’s favorite day – “March 4th”. Some old, some new, some obscure, some just plain weird.

Cary Grant stars as a French Captain (!) who marries a American female who happens to be a Lieutenant in the army. When the work in Europe is complete he tries to get into the US with her under the War Brides Act of 1945, which stipulated foreign wives of military personnel could return to the states with their spouse. Filled with all sorts of gender-confusing antics and Ann Sheridan, it’s a funny film.

Interestingly, the owner of the movie posted it online for people to enjoy for free!
