Monsters of Rock July 1988 East Troy, MI
A friend of mine was able to go, his parents got him tickets. That was the concert to see if you were a metalhead in the late 1980’s – Dokken, Metallica, Van Halen, Scorpions, & Kingdom Come. Hearing about that concert after he went made us all so jealous. All I could do was cut out newspaper clippings of the concert and listen to the bands’ CDs dreaming of what it was like (which I think I still have somewhere)…

I would have loved to have seen them in their infancy, the raw power of the band before they monetized. Developing their onstage personas, crafting their onstage antics (fire-breathing, blood-spitting, guitars on fire, side-show stuff)They are one band that has been on a continual “farewell tour”…

Grateful Dead July 1990 Tinley Park, IL
My high school art teacher turned me on to “the dead” and I have enjoyed them ever since. Songs like “St. Stephen”, “Shakedown Street”, and others give an otherworldly vibe and are great for just disconnecting from the busy world for a while. I would have loved to have seen them before Jerry’s untimely demise…
