Since there is a corny dad joke this month (“What is the military’s favorite day? March 4th!”), Sunday Cinema will be looking at obscure military television shows from the past.
McHale’s Navy is all about the crew of PT-73 under the command of Quinton McHale (Ernest Borgnine). Rule-breakers and heart-takers, the crew were known as one of the best fighting units in the South Pacific. The show started the careers of Ernest Borgnine, Tim Conway (The Carol Burnett Show), & Gavin MacLeod (The Love Boat). It lasted 4 seasons and received a 1997 remake movie starring Tom Arnold as McHale.
