This week the gang celebrated their 50th podcast with some cupcakes from a local (expensive!) bakery. Matty would have rather enjoyed cupcakes from another source  but due to cost & time-constraints couldn’t use her this time around. The holidays are coming up, Matty highly recommends checking out Mae’s Cakes on Facebook and placing an order now if you’re in the Holland/Zeeland area!

Speaking of celebrations, a northern Kentucky elementary school system has banned food from all celebrations in the hopes of combatting childhood obesity…

Like burgers? Like doughnuts? How about a doughnut filled with a cheeseburger filling and topped with bacon?

The quest for the most-expensive regular menu item gets ridiculous. I present, “The Glamburger“…

Is this what we’re coming to? A student sues the school system for an “F” grade that may (or probably not) keep them out of college?

Bookmark this site in case you ever win the lottery…

Lastly, we talked a little about an article from The Atlantic about how clowns became terrifying…

Be sure to check out our Facebook page and keep visiting this site for our daily “60 Days of Halloween Spectacular!”

We’re still needing money to upgrade our pod! If you’re not into audiobooks or healthy snacks, a straight-up donation would do just nicely!

Until next week!

This week Matty shared a double-whammy from Taco Bell, a teen cashier was forced to give out fake bills as change in a NYC store. She had accidentally accepted some fake bills and was told she could either pay for the bills out of her pocket or pass the bills onto customers. After 2 weeks she refused and was confronted by supervisors posing as cops, telling her to continue to pass the bills or face arrest. Matty said he would probably have done the same thing in the young cashier’s position. He also shared a scam story of his own…

Taco Bell calculated that a lifetime of takeout from their restaurants equates to around $10,000 according to a new contest they have going on. Matty shared this story on Junkiosity’s Facebook page a couple of weeks ago but felt it needed some on-air attention!

A few weeks ago we shared a story about a neighbor in Florida that was upset by a kid’s year-round lemonade stand. Turns out the neighbor isn’t a lily-white law-abiding citizen. The neighbor has allegedly been running a business out of his home and has not purchased a tax license to do so. He will be fined $250/day until he comes under compliance. Karma’s a real bitch…

Dan wasn’t around to weigh in on the latest controversy, apparently several celebrities have had online accounts hacked and nude photos compromised. Those celebrities include Jennifer Lawrence & Kate Upton, among others. Matty says nothing is secure anymore, if you don’t want those photos leaked – then don’t take them in the first place!

At a ballgame this weekend Matty noticed a lot of aluminum bottles of beer floating around and wondered why beer hasn’t been offered in plastic bottles. Lo and behold, an article came up explaining why beer has been bottled in glass for the most part. An interesting read for sure!

Australian kids can rejoice once more! The ban of playground games has been lifted! Initially they were banned because of poor sportsmanship & lack of resilience. This hearkens back to giving every kid a trophy so their feelings won’t be hurt…

There’s following your dreams the right way and the wrong way. An article found on Salon documented one poor sap’s attempt at following his dream by quitting his semi-secure job and jumping right into becoming a freelance copywriter. In all the books Matty has read about following one’s dream or changing careers he has learned one thing – make sure you have a plan in place before you leap…

Don’t forget to donate to our GoFundMe page so we can upgrade our equipment and bring you a better pod!

Until next week Junkies!

This week we go off on all sorts of pop culture including television shows we remember from the 70’s & 80’s that were AWESOME when we were kids but now we question why we ever thought that way about them…

For $81.15, you can own a copy of “Firewalker” or for about $30 you can get a copy of Jenn’s favorite from the ’80’s, “Electric Dreams“.

Matty could not find the episodes of “Trading Spaces” where the one woman cries or the one starring Chris Wylde, but HERE is one that is just as good – “When Reveals Go Bad“…

The winner of the greatest cartoon character of all time? A 3-way tie between Homestar Runner, Bugs Bunny, & Mickey Mouse.

All in all a well-rounded episode! See you next week!

Unfortunately due to yet another snowy week the boys couldn’t get together to do their usual podcast. This didn’t sit well with Matty, so he decided to post a short pod about people he’d like to meet based off the web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” with Jerry Seinfeld.

Mel Brooks is at the top of Matty’s list, his wit and humor just makes him a real fascinating person to want to meet. Mel has had a great career over the decades, the pinnacle (in Matty’s opinion) is his film “Blazing Saddles“…

Both Howard Stern & President Obama were on Matty’s list as well, more for the fact that he wants to know them outside the limelight and the political arena. He imagines both to be more than what their public personas portray…

Be sure to vote for the greatest cartoon character of all time in our poll, poll closes on 02/03/2014!

Until next week!
