Sunday Cinema – “Abandoned Michigan Parks”

All this month we will be sharing documentaries on vacation destinations that are long gone either due to financial ruin or worse…

The YouTuber, Ruin Road, has a short video on several “amusement parks” in Michigan that have been abandoned over the years. We put “amusement parks” in quotations as some are really just mini-golf/go-kart attractions and not true amusement parks.

It’s interesting to see the water parks especially as they have deteriorated in spectacular fashion. One water park we wish someone would have covered was Pleasure Island, a 45-min drive from they boys’ homes. It was a hopping place until Michigan’s Adventure added a water park and siphoned off all their business…

Ruin Road has a 14 minute video HERE for you to check out…

No poll this week, next week though!

Sunday Cinema – “Action Park”

All this month we will be sharing documentaries on vacation destinations that are long gone either due to financial ruin or worse…

Started in the mid-1970’s, Action Park was an amusement park with no rules. You pay the admission, you take the risks. Recently the subject of a major motion picture (“Action Point” starring Johnny Knoxville) and an HBO documentary (“Class Action Park”), the story of the park is incredible and sounds like it was the place to go back in the 1980’s.

Unfortunately major injuries, deaths, & lawsuits brought an end to the chaotic fun in 1996. It has reopened under the Mountain Creek Waterpark, but with much safer & tamer attractions.

Someone created their own documentary about the park & posted it online…

Sunday Cinema – “Bedrock City”

All this month we will be sharing documentaries on vacation destinations that are long gone either due to financial ruin or worse…

Opened in 1972 after the success of different Bedrock City in South Dakota, this one was located near Route 66. With no real rides to speak of just fiberglass/concrete facades of Flintstones homes & businesses, fiberglass replicas of dinosaurs & Flintstones characters, & daily live shows.

It closed down in 2019 and later reopened as Raptor Ranch & Bedrock City, a bird of prey park.

Someone created a vlog about their visit a few years ago and posted it online…

That’s Not The Situation

That’s Not The Situation

MattyV watches more streaming channels (paying a year in full for the ad-free & discounts when possible). There are some channels that haven’t made the switch to streaming, so he’s stuck with a cable company. Check out these alternatives if you are wanting to cut the cord….

Comedy Central was cool up until the early 2000’s

Here’s a clip from Tom Segura & Bert Kreischer’s podcast where Bert almost throws up

“Nathan for You” and the sh*-flavored frozen yogurt and “Dumb Starbucks“…

The “I Love the ’80s” series on VH1 was great with the exception of having people you have no idea who they were commenting on it.

Weird Al was on “Pictionary” and killed it…

MTV’s “Remote Control” was a cool gameshow, but as Dan the Man says you can’t do it today due to entertainment overload. Here’s Charlie Benante of Anthrax killing it…

An “Airwolf” reboot was fake. It would be a cool show to reboot with the CGI technology we have today. There was a “reboot” of sorts in 1987 with Stringfellow’s brother

Yes, there is nudity in “The Handmaid’s Tale“…

Danny Trejo’s autobiography is a must-listen as it is read by the man himself. His first major movie role was in “Runaway Train“…

Sunday Cinema – “Dogpatch USA”

All this month we will be sharing documentaries on vacation destinations that are long gone either due to financial ruin or worse…

Based on the Lil’ Abner comics about a group of hillbillies living in the Ozarks, Dogpatch USA was a theme park in Arkansas that boasted cavern tours, paddle boats, a “boat train” ride, and other wacky attractions.

Unfortunately due to incurred debt, low attendance, & a few horrible weather seasons the park closed for good in 1993.

Someone developed a documentary of the park and posted it online for all the check out

Sunday Cinema – “Anthrax”

All this month on “Sunday Cinema” in celebration of Dan the Man’s birthday we are going to look at concerts from some of his favorite bands!

Taken at the 2019 Wacken Open Air concert, this performance rocks despite the aging band members. They still rock it as hard as they did back in the 1980’s unlike some “other” 80’s metal bands…
