Sunday Cinema – “The School Picture”

Beaver

Our last entry in this month’s theme is a classic episode from the old sitcom, “Leave it to Beaver” where Beaver is convinced by Gilbert (dammit Gilbert!) to make a funny face for the class picture and it isn’t discovered until the yearbook is printed…

Someone posted this wholesome episode online for all to enjoy!

Sunday Cinema – “Back to School Mr. Bean”

bean

Continuing with this month’s theme of “back to school” episodes, we share this one of a British comedy that wasn’t too widely received here in the states. “Mr. Bean” starring Rowan Atkinson (of “Black Adder” fame) is a bumbling gentleman that seems to get into the strangest predicaments. This episode finds Mr. Bean going back to school and all the hilarity that ensues when an adult tries to make it through a typical student’s day.

Sunday Cinema – “Back 2 School”

Boy

This week’s “Sunday Cinema” looks at an episode of “Boy Meets World” where Corey and the gang survive the first day of high school. Many fond (and no-so-fond) memories of those times seem to erupt throughout the episode, at least for us.

Someone graciously (albeit poorly) has shared this episode online for others to reminisce about the happiness (and horror) of starting high school…

The Battle for Content

The Battle for Content

One of the earliest Tom Petty videos remembered was the “Mad Max”-inspired video for the song, “You Got Lucky”. Suspend rationale while watching as I don’t think a buried boombox will have enough juice to work and where did the power come from/why hasn’t anyone else seen it?

American Horror Story: Apocalypse” is starting tomorrow, you watching?

Hulu has done something a little different than other streaming platforms and it seems to have worked. The “Castle Rock” 10-episode series premiered new episodes once a week like traditional television channels and people still watched. It has been renewed for a 2nd season…

Sunday Cinema – “Square Pegs”

Square

For September we thought we would commorate the first day of school for many kids across the country (sucks to be those kids that started in August! We kid, we kid!) with some school-themed television episodes.

“Square Pegs” was a short-lived television series trying to cash in on the wave of teen/high school movies that had seen success. With a theme song by the popular nu-wave group The Waitresses and starring a very young Sarah Jessica Parker, the show focused on a couple of teen girls bent on becoming a part of the “popular” clique at school. Jami Gertz also makes her debut, you may remember her from ‘The Lost Boys” or “Less than Zero”.

Some kind soul posted this for us Gen-Xers to fondly recall…
