MattyV’s new Kindle book is available now on Amazon! “Tales from the Rec: The Pool King, Part One” is a serialized novel in the vein of Stephen King’s “The Green Mile“, Matty’s hoping to crank out a new part to the story every 2 weeks! Check it out for 99c or for free if you have Amazon Prime and a Kindle device!

This week (much to Jen the Intern’s chagrin) we spent almost the entire time talking about the show, “The Walking Dead” on AMC and the parallels to the comic book series.

MattyV highly recommends picking up both Compendium One and Compendium Two of the comic book series. These volumes comprise the first 96 issues with Compendium One ending with the prison battle and Compendium Two starting some of the story arcs found in the current television season.

Dan recommends checking out the video for Anthrax’s “Fight’em Till You Can’t” that incorporates scenes from different zombie movies (including “28 Days Later”, which technically isn’t a zombie movie)…

MattyV’s first zombie movie also happened to be the first video he ever rented (it was the Thorn/EMI version), “Dawn of the Dead” by George Romero. It is a classic movie that encapsulates the late 1970’s as far as fashion & malls. MattyV found out that the entire director’s cut of “Dawn of the Dead” is available to watch online at YouTube. Be sure to look for the cameo of the director, George Romero, as the scarf-wearing TV director in the first 5 minutes…(The Monroeville Mall is still there but very little remains that is recognizable from the movie, however…)

MattyV mentioned the photography book, “Malls Across America” but with the complaints about the photo layout and the hefty price tag he says to pass on it… This website has some of the photos from the book, some of them look like they were taken just a few months ago and not in the late 1980’s… Except for the one where the woman is smoking or the Tape World store, yeah I think Tape World is no longer in business…

Until next week!

We learned some interesting things about the Jehovah’s Witness religion when it comes to holidays and talked a little about the different valentine’s available since we were kids.

Matty mentioned a documentary about the ICP culture that can be found on YouTube entitled, “American Juggalo“.

Dan shared stories of using the Latin club’s Valentine’s Day carnation deliveries for nefarious purposes…

Have a fun week!

This week we go off on all sorts of pop culture including television shows we remember from the 70’s & 80’s that were AWESOME when we were kids but now we question why we ever thought that way about them…

For $81.15, you can own a copy of “Firewalker” or for about $30 you can get a copy of Jenn’s favorite from the ’80’s, “Electric Dreams“.

Matty could not find the episodes of “Trading Spaces” where the one woman cries or the one starring Chris Wylde, but HERE is one that is just as good – “When Reveals Go Bad“…

The winner of the greatest cartoon character of all time? A 3-way tie between Homestar Runner, Bugs Bunny, & Mickey Mouse.

All in all a well-rounded episode! See you next week!
