Sunday Cinema – “Halloween Safety”

A gem from Coronet Films, the producer of many safety & other educational films schools used for presentations in their classrooms in the 1970s & 1980s. This one doesn’t disappoint and actually still gives good information for kids going out to trick or treat.

If you remember these films or love the nostalgia, someone posted a copy online for everyone to visit this wonderful decade…

Over or Underrated

The boys talked a bit about being the importance of saying “thank you” or being courteous in other ways. They also talked about their “death row meals” which were rather simple. We found this article with some of the stranger last meal requests inmates have asked for…

They also discussed their prized fast food meals including some items that unfortunately are no longer available. Sometimes you get a hankering for a Big Montana or maybe a McDLT but that itch will never again be scratched…

Dan the Man had a list of stars that were either overrate or underrated according to a radio program, here are the boys’ choices:

Tom Hardy underrated.
Elizabeth Moss overrated.
Tobey Maguire underrated to meh.
Emilia Clarke overrated.
Andy Serkis underrated.
Chevy Chase overrated.
Michael Sheen underrated.
Ben Affleck overrated.
Will Smith overrated.
Jared Leto overrated.
Ben Foster underrated.
Mark Wahlberg underrated.
Robert Pattinson underrated.
Gwyneth Paltrow overrated.
Kristen Wiig overrated.
Paul Dano underrated.
James Franco overrated.
Michael Shannon underrated.

We had to look a few of these actors up to check their movie/television cred…

Sunday Cinema – “White Zombie”

A 1932 film starring Bela Lugosi, a woman travels to Haiti to be with her fiance’ but catches the eye of a wealthy plantation owner. The owner makes a deal with a local voodoo master to make the woman a zombie, which he later regrets.

This is considered to be the first full-length zombie film, with much of it shot at the Universal Studios lot.

There are several public domain versions online, here is one of them

Sunday Cinema – “Revenge of the Zombies”

Scientist Dr. Max Heinrich von Altermann mourns the death of his wife. But Max has a secret, he is developing a way to create an undead army for the Third Reich. Using his skills, he turns his wife into a zombie but surprisingly she still shows signs of free will. His colleagues find out of his mission with Max being pursued by his wife and the horde of zombies he created into a swamp.

This is a sequel to the 1941 film, “King of the Zombies” with actors from that film starring in this one.

Another old zombie film someone posted online for others to enjoy…

Can’t Do That Anymore

Can’t Do That Anymore

Cristela Alonzo had a sitcom on ABC about 10 years ago about a Mexican-American woman pursuing her dream of becoming a lawyer and the antics of living with her sister’s family. The show was filled with a lot of ethnic stereotypes & jokes that would not pass muster in today’s society for sure…

Airplane! is a film that in no way would be able to be made today. Again, a ton of stereotypes, dark humor, & dialogue that would make an SJW faint…

A remake of “The Office” has been announced which is sad. There is no way the show could be remade using the storylines or jokes from the US series

“Porky’s” is a classic sex comedy filled with jokes & nudity, no way it could be made today…

“American Pie” garnered 3 sequels with the original cast & 5 spinoff movies that went straight to DVD or streaming. Deemed the “Porky’s of the 2000s“, the material just wouldn’t be welcomed by many today…

Most of John Waters’ movies from the 1970s couldn’t be made today, especially “Female Trouble”

We’re surprised that actor C. Thomas Howell hasn’t publicly apologized for his 1986 film, “Soul Man”

Sanford & Son” is certainly a show that would be a no-no today…

Chico and the Man” is another show that couldn’t be made today…

I dare say “The Sopranos” couldn’t be made today

Sunday Cinema – “King of the Zombies”

A pilot & his crew crash land on a remote island and are greeted by a mansion owner & his wife. One of the crew is convinced the mansion is haunted by zombies, the pilot and others find out more about the sinister goings-on their host is involved in.

Followed by the more-serious film, “Revenge of the Zombies”, this is arguably the first real horror-comedy…

Someone posted this gem online for others to enjoy…

Sunday Cinema – “Zombies of Mora Tau”

A salvage team led by a wealthy tycoon is tasked with retrieving a fortune in diamonds from a wreck off the coast of Africa that sunk 60 years before. What the team finds is the ship’s crew are now zombies and have been tasked with protecting the cursed cargo.

Also known as “The Dead That Walk”, it was often coupled with other B-grade movies as a double feature.

Someone posted a copy online for all the enjoy…
